The Republic of Uzbekistan ratified Convention No. 187 of the International Labour Organization " Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health"

On June 4, 2021, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan was adopted “On ratification of the ILO Convention No. 187 on the basis for promoting occupational safety and health (Geneva, June 15, 2006)”.

ILO Convention No. 187 is one of the priority ILO conventions, which aims to continuously improve occupational safety and health to prevent occupational injuries, occupational diseases and deaths in the workplace.

Up to this date, ILO Convention No. 187 has been ratified by 49 countries, including the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation.

Article 2 of the Convention notes that each State Party that ratifies the Convention, in consultation with the most important employers and workers organizations, contributes to the continuous improvement of occupational safety and health through the development of a national programme for the prevention of occupational diseases, occupational injuries and fatalities.

Ratification by the Republic of Uzbekistan of ILO Convention No. 187 will serve to further improve national legislation and effectively implement international standards in the field of occupational safety and health, taking into account the principles set forth in the documents of the International Labour Organization (ILO) on occupational safety and health.

The adoption of the law ratifying this Convention will pave the way for the development of a national occupational safety and health programme in accordance with international standards in cooperation with the experts of the International Labour Organization and the progressive creation of a safe and healthy working environment.
