Today, equipment handover ceremony was held within the framework of the joint project "Promotion of Youth Employment in Uzbekistan" of the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the UN Development Programme in the Surkhandarya region. Equipment worth 177 million soums were handed over to five entrepreneurs with the condition of creating jobs and employment of youth and women from vulnerable segments of the population, as well as training for modern professions and entrepreneurial skills.

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Relations N.Yakubov, First Deputy Khokim of the region F.Mamanov, representatives of the Main Department of Employment of MOELR, the territorial administration of the Chamber of Commerce and Ministry for Support of  Mahalla and Family, as well as equipment recipients.

Thanks to the financial support of the Governments of the Russian Federation and Japan, 57 units of production and special equipment were given to entrepreneurs on a non-reimbursable basis. As a result of the implementation of these entrepreneurial initiatives in the Surkhandarya region, 36 new job places for women and youth will be created. In addition, 18 women and youth will have an opportunity to receive training on modern professions and develop entrepreneurial skills.

It should be noted that entrepreneurs who received the donated equipment were selected on a competitive basis and received a four-week online training on the basics of starting a business, marketing, financial management and social skills.

For reference: In total, within the framework of the joint project of the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations and the UN Development Programme "Promotion of youth employment in Uzbekistan", 323 units of modern types of sewing and IT equipment, furniture and equipment are provided for a total of 1,176,940,669 soums to young 34 entrepreneurs (21 or 61.7% of which are women) from six target regions of the country.

The implementation of these initiatives is expected to create 187 new jobs, 132 (over 70%) of which will be for women, and increase employment and income opportunities for 159 women and youth.
