A regular meeting of the National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Forced Labor has been held

At the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations, chaired by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva, a regular meeting of the national commission on combating human trafficking and forced labor was held.

It was attended by Minister Nozim Khusanov, members of the national commission, representatives of relevant ministries and departments, as well as media workers.

The event discussed the work carried out in the first half of 2021 to combat human trafficking and forced labor, as well as the problems that await solution.

It was noted that over the past period, the process of improving the foundations of national legislation in this area is consistently continuing. In particular, 2 laws, a Presidential decree and a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers have been adopted and put into force. The Convention of the International Labour Organization "On the Fundamentals promoting occupational safety and Health" (Geneva, June 15, 2006) has been ratified.For the first time, a system for redirecting victims of trafficking in persons or alleged victims of trafficking in persons has been introduced in Uzbekistan.


During the meeting, the Minister of Employment and Labor Relations N.B. Khusanov presented the work done by the subcommittee on forced labor in the first half of 2021 and provided information on the prevention measures that are to be taken in the sphere of the forced labor in the current cotton harvest season, the correct registration of labor agreement, the creation of decent working conditions and recreation for pickers.


The practice realization of the implementation of the recommendations of the US State Department presented in annual report also has been discussed. Moreover, and an agreement to develop an appropriate "Roadmap" in this direction was reached.


It was mentioned that the work carried out in our country in combating human trafficking, child labor and forced labor is also widely recognized by the international community. In particular, the International Labor Organization, the International Organization for Migration, the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, the European Union, the State Department and the US Department of Labor appreciate the efforts in this direction.


The reports of the territorial commissions on the work carried out on the ground of combating human trafficking and forced labor were also demonstrated.

The relevant decision of the National Commission was made on the issues discussed within the framework of the agenda, and the upcoming tasks were determined.
