History of the Ministry
10.10.1991 – The State Committee of the Uzbek SSR on Labour and Social Affairs was transformed into the Ministry of Labour of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
1992 – Uzbekistan became a member of the International Labour Organization.
07.14.1993 – The Republican Agency for Migrant Workers was established
13.02.2001 – the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan was established on the basis of the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Social Security.
The main tasks set to the Ministry were development of measures for social protection of population and control over their implementation, implementation of a unified national policy in field of remuneration, implementation of social support for the unemployed and their family members, establishment and development of relations with the International Labour Organization workforce in development of the young country.
04.06.2001 – the Republican Agency for Migrant Workers is reorganized into the Agency for External Labour Migration.
04.12.2016 – after the election of Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev as President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, labour and employment activities, practical measures to eradicate child and forced labour in Uzbekistan were fostered.
07.02.2017 – The Action Strategy in five priority areas for the development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021 was approved with fourth direction called “Developing the Social Sphere”, which provides for:
- creation of new jobs and ensuring rational employment of population, first of all graduates of secondary special and higher educational institutions, ensuring balance and development of the infrastructure of the labour market, reducing unemployment;
- conditions for the able-bodied population for full implementation of their labour and entrepreneurial activity, improving the quality of the workforce, expanding system of vocational training, retraining and advanced training of persons in need of employment.
24.05.2017 – the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan was reorganized into the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations.
The main tasks of the ministry are to develop a state order for new jobs creation, coordinate implementation of territorial and sectorial employment programs, measures to ensure employment of graduates of higher and secondary special, vocational educational institutions, monitoring the timely payment of benefits and material assistance to low-income families and others.
27.11.2018 – Uzbekistan became a member of the International Organization for Migration

2017 – Aktam Khaitov – Minister of Employment and Labour Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan
2018- Sherzod Kudbiev-Minister of employment and labor relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan
Since 12.09.2019, the Minister of employment and labor relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan is Nozim Bakhtiyarovich Khusanov.
