Strengthening social dialogue on further comprehensive measures to stimulate employment of disabled people in Uzbekistan

On January 12, 2021, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations discussed further comprehensive measures to stimulate the employment of persons with disabilities, including their vocational training, retraining, advanced training, as well as labor support at the workplace, protection of labor rights and labor protection. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry, the Association of Disabled People of Uzbekistan, Public Association of  Disabled of Tashkent city “SHAROIT PLUS”, as well as the Korean International Cooperation Agency KOICA.

At the meeting, the parties discussed topical problems related to the existing barriers to employment and employment of persons with disabilities.

The meeting participants highlighted the need to develop a comprehensive program of joint measures, including: expanding opportunities for vocational training, retraining and advanced training of persons with disabilities in professions in demand on the labour market; creation of a special integrated electronic database of vacancies; introduction of effective mechanisms to stimulate the interest of employers by subsidizing the hiring of vulnerable groups of the population, conducting a wide information campaign and removing barriers in the social environment.

In addition, within the framework of the meeting, the parties agreed on specific steps and measures to organize a reference center for vocational training for persons with disabilities on the basis of one of the vocational training centers of the Ministry, as well as adapting the conditions of the Monocenter for assisting the unemployed population “Ishga Markhamat”in accordance with requirements of an open and safe environment.

As a result of the meeting, a decision was made to develop and sign a multilateral Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry,Association of Disabled People of Uzbekistan, Public Association of  Disabled of Tashkent city “SHAROIT PLUS” and the KOICA Representative Office in Tashkent.
